Sidereal Confluence
↗
(2020)

Cube conversion to the max. 4-8 players needed.
It's easier than it looks and gets rave reviews from people who have actually played it

Zoo Vadis
↗
(2023)
1 play · last played 4/20/25 |
The very pretty animal themed remake of Knizia's Quo Vadis has been quite popular and I really want to play my copy.
Plays 3-7 players. It's a negotation game that should play quickly.

The Great Zimbabwe ↗ (2021) |
My other splotter. This one is just as pretty 😉
But easier to grok and get into or so I am told. It also plays faster.

I've only had a single game of this that was more or less a demo game from the rulebook. It plays 1-9 players anything with 4+ players would be great.

Sol: Last Days of a Star ↗ (2024) |
Very abstract space chess game. I don't even know how to describe this. Best played with 4 players.

|
Arcs ↗ (2024) |
Requires a minimum of 3 players.
Has some a trick-taking like central mechanism.
Other games by Cole Wehrle that you find on my shelves: Root, Pax Pamir 2, Oath, John Company 2
I also of the campaign expansion that seems quite exciting but for a first game I'd stick to the base-game

Firefly: The Game – 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition
↗
(2024)
2 plays · last played 3/21/26 |
Gigant space exploration that would really require rewatching the show before playing.
Probably best for a whole Saturday or Sunday.
Preferably with 3+ players. Apparently plays up to 10 ? Probably takes a week to play then.

Wonderland's War
↗
(2024)
1 play · last played 7/26/22 |
I haven't played this since getting the new super deluxe edition 🙂
It's a bag building push your luck game that is a bit like Quacksalber except Alice in Wonderland themed with battles for castles instead of cooking up potions.

Brass: Birmingham
↗
(2020)
1 play · last played 10/31/20 |
This is not quite unplayed, but a single play at 2 players easily puts this on the list.
Train game meets tech tree during the industrial revolution. Needs 3+ players to shine I think. Best would be 4.

|
Defenders of the Wild ↗ (2024) |
Cooperative game about the wild taking back nature from the factory and it's machines.
Supposedly quite difficult to win.
2+ players. 4 would be best though.
Caveat: it's a cooperative game with player elimination.

Iberian Gauge ↗ (2021) |
Cube Rails! Needs 3+ players willing to play a train game.
|

|
Ra ↗ (2023) |
I have the pretty new edition. It's a classic Knizia auction game with bids limited to the coins you currently have. There is some similarity to the bidding of Nidavellir.
|

|
Cosmic Frog ↗ (2024) |
Crazy world eating space frogs. 2+ players.
Be prepared for an ugly teach, the rulebook is quite chaotic.

Nucleum
↗
(2023)
1 play · last played 3/8/24 |
I have only played this one solo. It has similarities to Brass B but seems easier to figure out a strategy and execute it.
This actually notes it would be best at 3 players.

|
Food Chain Magnate ↗ (2019) |
Splotter Spellen.
Difficult to get into as far as I know. Not because of the rules but because initial strategy is hard to figure out.
Be prepared to lose because of a dumb decision from turn 1 or 2.

Weimar: The Fight for Democracy ↗ (2023) |
4 asymmetric factions try to do better than history.
Needs 4 players and probably half an afternoon to learn the game and then the rest of the day to play.
|

|
Cuba Libre
↗
(2022)
1 play · last played 11/27/23 |
My one and only GMT / COIN game. I've tried solo-ing it 4 handed.
Play Cuba's history... really needs all 4 factions in play, so 4 players it is.
Should be quicker than Weimar at least

Great Western Trail: New Zealand ↗ (2023) |
Build a deck, herd some sheep and run in circles.
I've played the OG GWT a couple of times. I'd like to see this one on the table. Should be okay with 2+ players.

Nokosu Dice ↗ (2016) |
I don't actually have a copy. But I made a proxy from Parade and some dice. It's trick taking with some dice.
Needs 3+ players. While we're at it, I have a bunch of other smallish card games that want 3+ players to be checked out.

Kemet: Blood and Sand
↗
(2021)
2 plays · last played 5/1/21 |
This is a bit of a stand in for a whole bunch of "on a map" games that I own and never really got to play: Ankh, Inis, War of Whispers, Iwari, Battle for Rokugan, Condottiere. As I said: a whole bunch.

|
Dune ↗ (2019) |
Classic war game about Dune.
Needs probably a whole afternoon or evening.
Plays best with 5 or 6 factions in play.

|
Faiyum
↗
(2020)
1 play · last played 12/2/20 |
Deck-building in an orderly fashion while building up settlements in the nile delta. Beware the crocodiles!

|
18DO: Dortmund ↗ (2020) |
Big train game. My only 18xx.
I don't think it makes sense to play this with less than 4 players.

Septima
↗
(2023)
1 play · last played 10/10/23 |
It's so pretty. Something about witches and covens and spells... It's been too long since I tried learning this.
Best at 3. Not a quick game and probably not a quick teach. It's one of my big Kickstarter games.

Voidfall
↗
(2023)
2 plays · last played 11/1/23 |
Ressource management in space. Yes, it says 4x-Euro in some descriptions. But it is way more Euro than resource management.
2+ players should do the trick. It's not a quick teach though. And not a quick setup either. But I have all the plastic spaceships you want. This is only on here I admit so I could get 25 games. I don't want to teach this. I dislike setting it up because the fancy insert has terrible logistics. It has bad rules retention. Mostly I love the cover art.
