My BGG Comment

My favorite new card row deckbuilder. The only thing Star Realms has over this one is that it packs a lot smaller. This is an almost standard sized square box. I am a fan of the franchise but one doesn't have to be to enjoy this game. It may help understanding the metals and the flaring better. What I enjoy most is that I get a solo/cooperative mode along with the standard versus game. Overall this is a very solid game in a well-known genre that brings along all the usual tropes: card removal, card draw, healing, fighting and adds a nice twist with how you get to play your cards by paying for them with metals and how to activate bonusses. The arc is pretty much predefined because you advance on the learning track every round. But even that can be manipulated a bit and makes it not quite static. If you like this style of deckbuilder, definitely give it a try. Rating 9 2026: We played and lost 2 cooperative games of this against the "Lord Ruler". This is hard. It is harder with two it seems. The Lord Ruler forces a tough tempo on the deck building and it gets frustrating when you don't ever win. We decided we'll give ourselves a handicap of a couple of turns where the Lord Ruler will not draw a card initially and see if we learn to build our decks better. I have won the solo a couple of times but I have lost more. Still this is such a good iteration of random market deck building (a la Star Realms) and with such a good game arc that even losing is fun. Rating 8
