My BGG Comment

This is a great 2nd iteration on Wingspan. However 2 major criticisms I encountered when playing with others: * the colors of the caves matching the cave cards is irrelevant but since quite a few cards match people get really confused about it (this is a little sad considering how much thought went into making the cards easier to parse for this game) * Wingspan has fewer and fewer actions per round as the game goes on. Wyrmspan is the other way, as more opportunities for coins appear later in the game especially if a player plays for coins. And then rounds become different lengths for different players and this turns out to be a major frustration for some. Initially I thought that I would always play this over Wingspan. But now I feel that what Wingspan brought to the table (especially without complications from expansions) was simpler and more people enjoyed it. If only this one existed I think the people I played with would rate this higher. Personally, I think the solo is far better and more satisfying especially with the guild combo-ing. The Wingspan solo always frustrated me a bit. I like the coin mechanism for actions. But I can see how in multiplayer it makes disparate skill at playing more visible and seems "less fair". Wingspan is more of a family game (even though it is at the upper end of complexity for that) which I could get anyone to play. I really would love to say that Wyrmspan is unequivocally better because Dragons are cool. But I guess I have to say that both are good, Wingspan is easier to get to the table as more people enjoy this style. For myself, the solo is far more enticing with Wyrmspan. So I'll probably never solo Wingspan again.
