2026 I bought this rather spontaneously at SPIEL because I liked how the building slowly rises up. But it turns out to be a small engine builder for 1 or 2 players with a rather fiddly set of iconography that interrupts the flow of playing. The engine building is not that spectacular. Sure you get 4 different actions on your tableau that you slowly build up by up to 3 additional bonusses and nothing immediately comes to mind that does this in quite the same way but it does not feel so exceptional. The iconography is what does this in. In a bid to have as little text in the game itself as possible too many similar-ish icons were introduced on too many different game elements and I just can't deduce the meanings of them easily. In each set of icons there are a couple that just aren't intuitive and when they come up I either ignore those options or I have to go look for the right table in the rulebook. It might be that with repeated plays this would flow much more smoothly. But I have too many games in my collection that appeal more to me as a solo and for small 2 player engine building I am more likely to be going for Splendor Duel and similar games. And for big engine building I have Terraforming Mars. (For some reason this game keeps reminding me of Furnace and I cannot explain why. I like Furnace better anyway. It's smarter.) Rating 6
