SPIEL 2023. Nature themed card game with tuckable multi use cards, combos and some tempo play. Was sold out by the time we tried it from the title and the look on the table I was not interested. We only played because a friend insisted he wanted to try. I am surprised that this was probably the best game that I played at the fair. I had a few very fun moves like playing a bear that costs three cards that you put in the open market and then it eats up all the cards in the market which at that point can be up to 12 and those cards go into your “cave” and count as VP. Or I tried to play a Trash Panda which would have allowed me to exchange my hand for a new one and keep the old cards in the cave for points. But instead of the Trash Panda I got to play a Mole which allowed me to play as many cards as I could if I could pay them… well butterflies have a cost of 0 and the more different butterflies the more points they get, you just need free spots on the top of your trees. Ah yes trees: before you get to have a forest you have to play some trees. Each tree provides 4 spots for animals and other plants to live in: below, above, left and right. Each non-tree card is either top/bottom or left/right and you can choose whichh animal or plant you want to play where for the best scoring combos. Lovely little game that is sure to show up either in our or our friends’ collection. Rating 8 2026 I only figured out recently that I had acquired the solomode for this with the latest expansion. After a few initial 2 player sessions of this that I enjoyed, we had a couple at 6 players and that gets ugly fast. Especially when 4 of those players have played the game to death and know all the strategies and which cards to combo much better than you do. As a solo--great solomode btw--this turns into a very cozy tree raising experience. I only played 1 solo so far but it gave me all the combos I wanted without the hassle of being angry at other players taking away my cards (I can't very well be angry at the automa taking them...) Because I refuse to keep sorting the cards I am obviously playing with cards from all the expansions. Rating 8
