In the three-dimensional construction game Nunatak: Temple of Ice, you build a step pyramid together in a mountain of ice — but this game isn't co-operative, so watch your step! (A "nunatak", by the way, is a hill or mountain completely surrounded by glacial ice.) For each pillar stone placed, you receive cards with different values that will affect your score in the end. For every four pillars built in a square, a new level of the monument opens up, with the temple of ice growing step by step. Who can place their stones most wisely and rise to the icy challenge?

My BGG Comment
SPIEL 2023. shared competitive ice pyramid building with area majority and card collection which reminded me a bit of Nidavellir. Very good and went by so fast we didn’t even notice. I am not a huge fan of this card majority thing even though I accidentally won the game. I couldn’t concentrate much on the game and just did whatever next best move came along. But I managed to complete 2 full sets of cards from each color and those 20 points catapulted me to the front. Others had tried to get those points and I had been pretty miffed about having to play those green cards that were not giving me any points on their own… The whole game was quite refreshing and is a very good family game that I can see being nominated for SdJ.
