Trailblazers BGG ↗

My BGG Comment

I've been loving this game a lot. Route building is one of my favorite mechanisms and this one plays a fast solo, with very satisfying results and incredible failures due to hybris when you think you can close all 3 loops with 2 cards and obviously you can't. Love it. Very small package as well, won't travel without it. Rating 9 2026: First play of the year. Trailblazers is a favorite of mine. A good way to start the year with the "Wildlife Whisperer" solo challenge. This is one of my favorite tile laying/route building games with an ever changing fun puzzle. The multiplayer draft works well, too (I have only played it once as a multiplayer though) Rating 8

Barely ever play the drafting version. But this has a very good solo mode and the route building is tricky. Avoid hybris! The small case travels well.

  Routes hybris to the max.

I backed this because I wanted Pipeline without the economics. And it delivers. Good solid route building and more of that and then more. This is Fairy Trails on steroids. I love it. And I am not surprised it entered the list this high. This is so quick to play and it seeps so deeply into my brain... in that aspect it's a bit like playing too much Galaxy Trucker on the app. Turning tiles this way and that, considering and then making a mess with my hybris. I cannot quite believe I only played this twice in 2025. I still enjoy the route building pathing and hybris catching/falling a lot. Solo Plays 2025: 2 Ranking last year: 8

Have I mentioned I like route building? Maybe this game is the reason Railroad Ink is not my favorite route building game anymore. Trailblazers is just so good and compact and I‘ve been trying to get all the different goal cards and then the other achievements. The more I play the more this game is so stuck in my head that I find myself sitting there trying to read and in my head I am turning cards this way and that still trying to build a route… there are also all the additional modules with animals and hikers and such … it never gets boring. Just like another favorite tile layer that is yet to come…. Pushed down a little because I got a few really awesome new solo-games. Solo Plays 2024: 43 Ranking last year: 6 (🔻1)
