Play through 4 decades of German post WWII history as either East or West Germany. Even when losing due to huge demonstrations it is so interesting to see what events changed the course of history in each decade. A complex game with many different aspects one needs to keep track of. How happy are your people? How much influence do you have on currency? Did you build enough factories? Each turn you get to play one of your handcards or one of a number of cards in a public display. Each card has different play options and may be more suited to one of the sides. The public display is refilled once per decade. At the end of each decade victory (or loss) conditions are checked. So far I lost as both East and West Germany due to massively unhappy people taking to the streets in protest.
